Research Interests
Alexandru joined the group in January 2024 as a PhD researcher. His project focuses on the development of novel cryopreservation strategies for immune cells, with the aim of reducing reliance on conventional cryoprotectants such as DMSO and improving the recovery and functionality of cells used in cell and gene therapies. He has a background in biotechnology and bioengineering (MSc), with prior experience both in industry and academia, including work in a biotech startup, Javelin, developing anti-inflammatory compounds; and as a Cell and Gene Therapy Specialist at Bio-Techne Corporation (NY:TECH), where he supported commercial adoption of advanced therapy manufacturing platforms.
