Research Interests
Amrutha’s work focuses on developing high-throughput methods to synthesise polypeptides with precise architectures and exploring how their structures influence ice-binding and ice recrystallisation inhibition. The work aims to develop synthetic materials that can reproduce desirable properties of ice-binding proteins, with potential relevance to a range of biotechnological applications. Prior to her PhD, she completed an M.Sc. by Research in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram, where she worked on the design and synthesis of carbazole-based macrocyclic frameworks. Her project involved developing functionalised carbazole building blocks and aromatic linkers, followed by exploring their use in macrocyclisation. She gained experience in organic synthesis and molecular characterisation using NMR, high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) and UV–Visible spectroscopy.
