Research Interests
Ashish’s research is positioned at the intersection of cryobiology and diagnostics. His work focuses on applying cryopreservation techniques to diagnostic methods, with the aim of developing ready-to-use viral diagnostics. By integrating cryobiology into diagnostic workflows, he is creating both novel platforms and improved versions of existing tools—optimising them for faster, more practical end-use applications.
Although his research is primarily cell-based, Ashish has developed a strong interest in imaging. He has played an important role in maintaining the group’s imaging facilities and regularly supports other group members in developing their imaging skills.
He holds a background in microbiology and bioengineering. At Imperial College London, he developed a novel biosensing platform for transplant kidney monitoring, combining microfluidics with microelectrical biosensors. He also gained experience working with a range of bacterial systems during his time there.
Outside the lab, Ashish enjoys playing squash, swimming, cooking, and watching movies. He also has a growing interest in the application of synthetic biology in therapeutics and diagnostics.
