Research Interests
Buse’s research interest is in developing smart polymeric materials for various applications such as tissue engineering and drug delivery. In her BSc project as an undergraduate research student, she worked on the design, synthesis, and characterisation of mechanically strong and biocompatible silk fibroin-based cryogels and hydrogels (Int. J. Biol. Macromol. 2020). In her MSc project, she concentrated on developing biocompatible, mechanically strong, conductive, and shape-memory organohydrogels under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Oguz Okay at Istanbul Technical University. These organohydrogels, a relatively new class of polymeric materials, contain two antagonist parts, similar to natural structures like cell membranes (ACS Appl. Biomater. 2023, ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces 2024).
