Research Interests

I am interested in interdisciplinary research at the interface of sustainability, bioprocess engineering, and emerging technologies. My research focuses on life cycle assessment (LCA), techno-economic analysis (TEA), process modelling and optimisation, sustainable bioenergy and bioprocessing, waste valorisation and circular economy, and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to process engineering. I have worked on the development and sustainability assessment of biofuels, biorefineries, waste-to-value processes, and other emerging technologies. My current research in the Gibson Group focuses on the life cycle assessment and sustainability of polymeric cryoprotectants.

I have published more than 36 peer-reviewed papers and received more than 2,300 citations. I was recognised among Stanford University’s Top 2% of Scientists, and my Google Scholar profile has an h-index of 26.
